  • Much to my astonishment this lens is fully functional like it should be on my Df. Not sure why it didn't get along with the D7000. I absolutely am in love with the lens on the Df. When I need to go fast I use this one. Here are some samples... Much to my astonishment this lens is fully functional like it should be on my Df. Not sure why it didn't get along with the D7000. That would be a Oldsmobile sir...probably a 350 rocket as opposed to a 442 car. The 442 would have a mean looking hood on it.

Recently acquired this gem of a lens. I really like it a lot. Draws fantastically well, good bokeh, and my copy seems to have a glow to it perhaps because of marked but light smoky haze.

Although I already have the 28/3.5 non-AI, I couldn't pass up an eBay auction for the AI version. My winning bid: $18. I think the marked up filter that came with the lens and some minor surface rust on the mount ring (which I cleaned off with bleach and a Q-tip) helped lower the value, enough that this was a hidden gem.

I got this and the AI-converted 50/1.4 for any future upgrade away from the consumer Nikons, but with the D3200 it is already a treat to use.

With a 1-foot minimum focusing distance (compared to the 2-foot threshold of the non-AI version), this is a very nice lens for indoor closeups! Hand-held at 1/13 or 1/15 I can easily get shots with no blur.

I was reading an article tonight on Df low light work and in the comments someone mentioned that the Df was very similar to the D700 in the way the large light wells took in light. The two cameras are much more forgiving to the glass because of these much larger cells as opposed to high mp rigs. All I can say is heck yea! :) More

Not a worthy snap anywhere in site today...not even a detail shot. Sure would have been a good day for testing the cold weather capabilities of the camera though.

Ok Sampang you have inspired me to tote the 100 E with me tomorrow...it has been awhile since I have used it and it will be nice to see what it is like on the Df. Maybe I will get brave and ask a pretty girl for a picture... :D

    Nikon Series E 75-150/3.5
The zoom lens best known for its use by Galen Rowell in the 80s! Also notorious for zoom creep, which my copy indeed has. (I've given it the electrical tape treatment on the barrel to try to stymie it) I'm really surprised there isn't a thread... The zoom lens best known for its use by Galen Rowell in the 80s! Also notorious for zoom creep, which my copy indeed has. (I've given it the electrical tape treatment on the barrel to try to stymie it) I'm really surprised there isn't a thread on this classic yet, given its stellar reptuation!

    i.imgur.com/6xZYcxj.jpg" alt="http://i.imgur.com/6xZYcxj.jpg" />

Its light weight compared to the Series E 70-210/4 and faster aperture (by about a third of a stop) make this a very practical lens for wanting medium telephoto with some zoom. With the tape the handling is somewhat better but not as good as the two 43-86 Nikkors.

    Compared to the 1962 era Zoom-Nikkor 85-250/4-4.5 I own, it's absolutely a featherweight!

I used it for the King Of The West main event at the Stockton sprint car races last Saturday, and the real surprise was my ability to use this lens handheld at 1/30 for the post-race pit area shots!!!
